Petty: The Biography by Warren Zanes
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I asked for this book for Christmas based on seeing some 4 and 5 star reviews and reading a couple positive reviews. However, I was not able to finish the book. While the book is no doubt informative and probably has some details known only to Warren Zanes and the other people involved in the events and conversations described…I found the book was unable to keep my interest. I dog-eared the page I at which I left the book for now in case I’d want to pick it up again.
I don’t doubt Zanes’ credibility a bit, but I personally do not care for the writing style. I don’t know if it was too many commas, too many cliches or a lack of cohesive flow between and within paragraphs…something about it didn’t resonate with me.
I am glad to see that the book received some good reviews, though. I’m a Tom Petty fan and I’m glad there are books about him. Maybe this particular book just wasn’t my cup of tea.
